I wouldn't be too concerned about the air and cabin filters. They are tucked inside other components and aren't exposed to direct contact with the outside air. Had your engine and ventilation system been running throughout the ordeal, then it would be smart.

Have you filed a police report yet ? You car has been involved in an accident ! And remember if you try to sell the car this must be on record with your VIN. # It is your responsibility to report this incident.

Get your insurance on the horn asap!

i would definitely get the filters replaced. at any point in cabin (there may be more than one) and outside intakes.

get it detailed at the dealership if possible (places that prep for showroom gleam)

hopefully the windows on your car weren't left open.

depending on proximity of your car to fire, you might want to check for paint finish degradation or blistering effects.

and oh yeah, call your insurance agent!

So the store manager just got back to me about 10 minutes ago (8:55pm) to tell me to go ahead and have my car detailed and they would reimburse me at the store. Someone had recommended that I have both air filters replaced, and I suggested this to the manager and he rudely refused - "the detailing is all we're willing to do"

I'm not a gear head or anything, but to me it makes sense to replace the air filters both under the hood and inside the car. Anyone know?

Also - any recommendations on detailing places?

Called corporate pep boys and filed a claim. They said they would call back within 48 hours. We will see.

This is the mentality you have to deal with in these type of places. Just wait till the insurances companies get a hold of them, whose laughing now.

my car was there at that time - when I picked it up it had this weird smell of burned rubber. I didn't notice any damage to the building at all and they didn't say anything to me.
