Police were cruising along Monticello Avenue Sunday at 11:15 p.m. when a 38-year-old man with blood on his face and shirt flagged them down, police said. The victim told police that he was inside a Chinese restaurant at 161 Monticello Ave. when men approached him and started punching him in the face, reports said. They then threw him to the floor and started kicking him, taking the cash and cell phone from his pockets before fleeing, police said. The man was treated at Jersey City Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
