Out of towner at 9:30 PM in front of busy Christo's - only a block from Hamilton Park -- robbed by 6 men. That is very early in the evening --but downtown did seem pretty empty on this Black Friday, holiday weekend.

Anyone have any more info about this? It's scary that this could happen so close to the park and Christos'. Where are the cops in this town, shouldn't security be heightened this time of year?

Jersey City police say man attacked and robbed by six men while walking on Eighth Street near Coles Street in Downtown Jersey City

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

A Massachusetts man in the city to visit a relative was attacked and robbed Friday night on Eighth Street in Jersey City, police said.

The man, 20, of Wilbraham, Mass., was walking on Eighth Street, near Coles Street, at 9:23 p.m. when a man approached him and demanded "everything you have," reports said. Five other men surrounded the victim, who was then struck in the head at least two times, reports said.

One of the attackers went into the man's pockets and snatched a cell phone and iPod, valued at $300 total, cops said.
