This is done at other grammar schools throughout the city. Usually they close off a street in the morning before school begins, at lunch time, and at dismissal in the afternoon.

Are you talking about how they close it every school day around noon? They put cones up to block off the Brunswick between 7th and 6th so the kids can run around after lunch. Haven't seen any other street blocked off regularly for schools personally. Their rationale is probably that it's not a crazy busy street and it's only for a half an hour, not that I necessarily agree or disagree with it.

I get that there is a school there, but none of the other schools are closing off streets. Is this supported by the city? If so why don't they have a sign that may be able to let you know when they were going to close it. Right now their method seems kinda home made.
