"god damn, dont those thugs realize newport is protected within a magical bubble! why cant they just take their guns/drugs and pollute it in some other jc area."
Thats because they knocked down most of duncan projects & curry woods so where else are they to go to pollute.
Where is this Totter Avenue, I never heard of that street in JC.
Atleast that street trash got caught & no one got hurt.

Gunshots at Pavonia/Newport station

Monday, January 19, 2009

Forty minutes after a volley of shots were fired at the Pavonia/Newport Light Rail Station in Jersey City on Friday night, a Jersey City man was arrested at Liberty State Park Light Rail Station on gun and drug possession charges, officials said.

Elinardo Chandler, 19, of Totter Avenue, is being held on $85,000 bail, said NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel.

At around 11:20 p.m. Friday night, NJ Transit Police heard several shots being fired at the Pavonia/Newport Light Rail Station on Mall Drive East, authorities said.

NJ Transit Police chased a suspect into Newport Mall, but he got away, officials said.

Jersey City Police, who also responded, dispersed a large "disorderly group" near the station and found four shells on the platform, reports said.

Soon after the incident, a light rail operator told transit police that a man armed with a handgun was on his train.

NJ Transit police arrested the man, Chandler, after he got off the train. When they patted him down, they found the handgun, plus significant quantities of narcotics, "clearly with intent to distribute," reports said.
