$4000 cash, laptop, cellphone and license = Another drug deal gone bad or a fake crime to dupe the business owner.
This is all sounding too familar, especially the taking of id (we know where you live crap and we are taking your stuff but you're getting no drugs) - be it license or passports. I smell drugs and I hope the cops work this one out.

Jersey City electrician robbed of $4,000 at office
by Tom Shortell Tuesday October 21, 2008, 6:42 PM Two men made off with over $4,000 when the robbed a worker at an electrical contractor's office yesterday afternoon, according to Jersey City police reports . Police responded to a call at 34 Orchard St. at 2:55 p.m. where an employee of Deen Electrical Contractor Inc. told them two men had robbed him and the store, reports said. The victim, a Bayonne resident, said a man over 6 feet, weighing about 200 pounds with a medium complexion came into the store and spoke to him in Spanish, according to police. When the employee asked him to write it because he doesn't speak Spanish, the man called in English to a second man he called Eddie, reports said. Eddie, described as shorter than the first man, proceeded to lock and stand guard over the door while the first man restrained the victim, police said. The first man reached into the victim's pocket and took $4,000, reports said. The man also took a company cellphone and a laptop bag containing a blank company check, credit cards belonging to the victim and the company, a wallet and a driver's license, reports said. The man then put the victim on the floor, and the two men fled the scene. Police are still investigating the case. Anyone with any information is asked to call (201) 547-5245.
