SUV hits light rail train

by Hudson County Now
From the Jersey Journal newsroom
Saturday November 24, 2007, 1:09 PM

One person was slightly injured when a sport utility vehicle ran a red light and smashed into a light rail train in Jersey City, the Star-Ledger's John Holl reported.

The accident happened on Sixth Street about 8:30 a.m. when the SUV apparently ran a red light and crashed into the left front side of the train, NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel said.

There were 27 people on the north-bound train, but no injuries were reported, Stessel said. However, a passenger in the SUV was treated on the scene for minor injuries, he said.

The accident caused minimal delays on the line for about an hour, but normal service was restored before 10 a.m., Stessel said.
