Does it help to go an hour before it opens? Is the wait outside? Can you social distance? Can you wait in your car will they text you like down south Jersey?

NJ MVC Frequently Asked Questions during COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

Quote:
Was my expiration date extended?

The following documents, if expiring between Mar 1 and May 31, have been extended to September 30.

If expiring between June 1 and August 31, they have been extended to December 31.

?All standard driver licenses (including permits)
?Standard non-driver IDs
?Vehicle registrations
?Inspections
?Temporary tags

What about CDL Extensions?

Expiration dates on commercial driver licenses (CDLs), commercial learner?s permits, and HAZMAT endorsements have been extended a second time, to September 30, 2020. This means expirations that were previously extended to June 30 have been extended for another three months. The extensions do not apply to documents that expired before March 1.The extension also includes the Medical Certifications of CDL holders, as long as the medical certificates were for 90 days or more and expired after March 1.The extensions mirror those issued recently by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which oversees CDLs, and the federal Transportation Security Administration, which oversees Hazardous Materials endorsements (HAZMAT).

DMV has split their locations into either vehicle centers or licensing centers. You can't do both at the same location anymore. I was very surprised by this considering the amount of people we have here in Jersey City ... to make our population travel to another city to renew their licenses. Jersey City DMV is a vehicle center now - so only things like car registrations. By the time you get to Bayonne, chances are high they will have reached their capacity and have stopped accepting people getting on line.

For issues with licenses (e.g. lost license; renewals), JC office has been sending people to Bayonne which apparently reaches their limit by the early morning. Not sure what JC office is actually doing?

Has anyone had any recent experience with the JC DMV? Is it a long wait to get in? Your feedback is appreciated.
