That's good news, but I'd like to see more white collar prosecutions that also have a devastating effect on the community with funds go missing, people losing jobs, families suffer and businesses close down.

Three leaders of a Hoboken-based drug ring that moved up to 20,000 bags of heroin through Hudson County each week were living the high life on drug profits, officials said. But yesterday all three pleaded guilty to federal drug crimes carrying sentences of up to 25 years in prison, officials said.

Jose "Nutty" Gonzalez, 25, of Third Street in Union City, Rory Praylow, 28, of Jackson Street in Hoboken, and Manuel "Murder" Suarez, 31, of Palisade Avenue in Jersey City, pleaded guilty in federal court in Manhattan yesterday morning, officials said.

They were among eight people busted after the six-month investigation that came to a head last March 6, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.

Just after midnight that day, Hoboken police, working with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, spotted leaders of the cartel meeting at the Hess Station on 14th Street in Hoboken, reports said.

"We are very gratified with the successful prosecution of these major drug dealers," Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said of the pleas entered in federal court in Manhattan. "It's an outstanding example of the cooperation of law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies."

During the six-month investigation numerous searches of locations and vehicles were conducted, resulting in seizure of 27,000 bags of heroin, four loaded semiautomatic handguns and a bulletproof vest, officials said. One of the guns recovered was later connected to a shooting in Hoboken on Super Bowl Sunday last year, DeFazio said.

Also arrested and facing charges as a result of the drug probe are Philip "Spud" Pasquale, 22, and Darryl Oliver, 35, both in Hoboken; Jason "Jay" Santos, 25, and Alex Gonzalez, 21, both of Jersey City; and Mary Gama, 27, of Union City, officials said.
