Hitman who killed on orders from N.J. political operative gets 8 years for Connecticut robbery

A career criminal who admitted killing in 2014 in a murder-for-hire scheme orchestrated by a prominent New Jersey political operative was sentenced Tuesday to 96 months in federal prison in an unrelated bank robbery that year in Connecticut.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer sentenced George Bratsenis, 73, to eight years in prison during a hearing in a New Haven, Conn. federal court after Bratsenis pleaded guilty in 2019 to committing the armed bank robbery in Connecticut, his home state.

At 73, He Adds New Jersey Hit Man to His Criminal Résumé

Published March 23, 2022Updated March 24, 2022

George Bratsenis shuffled into a New Jersey courtroom in shackles last month, an old-school hoodlum with thick glasses, white hair and a forearm tattoo.

Court is a familiar setting for Mr. Bratsenis, 73. So is prison. His Tarantino-esque odyssey spans at least three states and Canada and includes the killing of a drug courier known as the Turk, ties to organized crime and a bizarre failed jailbreak bid.

This court appearance was the result of his having been implicated in a murder-for-hire case involving a veteran campaign consultant that many in New Jersey’s political class think could grow into the state’s next big public corruption scandal.

The consultant, Sean Caddle, had admitted to arranging the killing of an associate who was found fatally stabbed in his burning Jersey City apartment in May 2014, and he had named Mr. Bratsenis as his hired hit man.

Another plea expected in bizarre murder mystery tied to N.J. political operative

A third man tied to a mysterious murder-for-hire plot hatched by a New Jersey political consultant is scheduled to enter a plea in federal court Thursday in connection with the long-unsolved case.

George Bratsenis, 73, who had already been repeatedly identified by federal prosecutors in connection with his involvement in the 2014 murder, will appear by video conference in a plea hearing before U.S. District Judge John Michael Vazquez in Newark, according to court filings.

Family of John Sheridan asks authorities to explore possible link between deaths and murder-for-hire-plot

A seven-year-old case that led to stunning murder-for-hire charges against a New Jersey political consultant this week bore striking similarities to the 2014 deaths of John Sheridan, a major figure in New Jersey state politics, and his wife Joyce, say family members, who are now asking investigators if there might be a link.

In a letter Friday to the state Attorney General, the Somerset County prosecutor and to federal authorities, Sheridan’s son, Mark, requested that the evidence tied to one of the figures involved in the murder-for-hire case that came to light on Tuesday be examined to determine if there is a connection to his parents’ deaths.

I am sorry for the loss of life, but I had to bring up this sentence: "Caddle was executive director of the group Houston Votes which was accused of collecting fraudulent voter registration cards." This is not unusual in Hudson County, the fact he was caught means someone turn him in. So, I would like to know the mystery of who turned in Caddle. Is there a connection?

Odd that the Feds did not mention a motive for the murder - have to assume it was money related, I don't remember the timeline, but maybe related to some of the JC public official corruption trials?

Around the country, the Republicans are no less corrupt. We just have a whole lot more Democrats in this area, so here, they're more likely to be found out.

Wow, even knowing how corrrupt the Democrats are, this shocks me. Note the murder's connection to longstanding and very effective voter fraud.
