It IS a bit high for that area; however, I've seen similar units go for $2000-$2500 (and get rented quickly!).
Sure, it's not as close to downtown, but it does benefit from lots of transportation options. Lightrail, kind of a long but doable walk to Hoboken PATH, 123 to NYC goes down Palisade Ave, etc.

There are larger units in BeLa, with similar or better finishes, going for less, and some have the advantage of being much closer to DTJC (time wise) and all are within walking distance of JC's best all-around park: LSP. But, with the JC market being so irrational and overheated, perhaps the asking rent is totally within reach. Good luck!
