I remember that march, it went from City Hall to the County Building. I lost neighbors in that revaluation. Either they had to sell sometimes at loss or they lost their homes through the tax hike. You had to pay in advance to appeal. Many could not afford to pay in advance. This the reason I am against all tax abatements, even affordable housing. You are pushing someone's tax burden on another group. As it is now one third of the city do not pay regular taxes due to abatements.

Yes. God forbid the city use this as an opportunity to cut costs.

Jersey City homeowners uneasy as long-delayed revaluation begins

JERSEY CITY -- A five-letter word is causing heartburn in every neighborhood in Jersey City.

Reval.

The citywide property revaluation, Jersey City's first since 1988, is finally underway, with inspectors knocking on doors, homeowners nervous about what their tax bills will be next year and Mayor Steve Fulop urging calm.

Fulop faced a roomful of grim-faced Downtown residents on March 28 to tell them what to expect.

"I know there's a lot of fear because people assume the worst," he told them before adding, "It's going to be disruptive. I don't want to mince words."

what kind of a fulop's moron posted these "maps"?

and why fulop blames christie? it was treasury department who ordered, and only because fulop himself canceled previous reval.

1/3 pays no taxes, while middle class is struggling to subsidize wall street investors.
