Unrelated, but does any one know what the deal is with the big blue barrier on the sidewalk in front of the church at Jersey and 3rd?

Minor annoyance, but it's been there for weeks with no work happening.

Major annoyance. If a sidewalk must be blocked, then a walkway should be made where the cars park. There's no signage, no walkway and pedestrians have to squeeze between cars and walk in the street to get around that monstrosity. Given how long that church has been half done, I'd say that blue box is going to be there for years. It's horrible having to walk out onto Jersey Ave like that. People get hit on that street all the time.

Please contact Candice about it. http://www.cityofjerseycity.com/citycouncil.aspx?id=1224

They've put signs up now, not sure when this happened.

at least it's scaffolding and people aren't forced into the street but yes, it's f'en ridiculous that it's still being fought over, obviously the city isn't fining them enough to encourage them to work out a compromise with the architect and builders.

Ya man, this whole operation makes no sense. First the area was blocked off with tape for 2-3 weeks, then they put this thing up. What are they even doing? I'll definitely be writing Candice, it's super dangerous how people are walking in the street, and I gotta believe it's a matter of time until cars start to get damaged from parking there (people squeezing through). The things you can get away with in the name of God?

What are you trying to sort out? Homeowners are responsible for the upkeep of the sidewalk pavement on their properties. The city is responsible for the actual curb.
