I fish there often and the teens have broken in and vandalized the pump house before. They also sneak in after the gates are locked to drink beer and smoke pot.

Teen who fell into Jersey City Reservoir well was 'frightened,' 'shaken,' firefighter says

JERSEY CITY -- After a 16-year-old fell more than 20 feet into what police are calling a well inside an old pump house at the Jersey City Reservoir, rescuers this afternoon said the boy was lucky to escape relatively unscathed.

At about 7:40 p.m., firefighters were called to the building, which rises above the reservoir along Summit Avenue. Police said the teen got inside by climbing along a 1-inch ledge to a partially-boarded up window.

But the teenager dropped his tablet while inside and somehow fell through a drain pipe and into the well when he went to retrieve the device, according to a police report from the incident.

How can the city be sued when the kid(s) trespassed? The gates were locked and fishing hasn't even began. The pump house was boarded up, *that was the case in August 2015* If anyone is at fault it's the kid.

Anyone here knew there were wells in J City? The rescue went down on Summit and Jefferson right next the Fire House.
