Last summer, Legal Beans on Division Street sold me the worst quality ribs I have ever eaten. I gave them the benefit of the doubt after a disappointing experience months prior, and they really outdid themselves: The rub was flavorless, there was absolutely no smoke flavor or aroma, the meat separated from the bones in dry, intact tubes, and many of the bones had turned into black mush. Its only saving grace was that it still tasted like pork--old, dried-out pork coated with spent coffee grounds, but pork nonetheless.

Every restaurant makes mistakes or comes up short once in a while, but there?s no excuse for taking customers' money and serving them days-old, reheated garbage that wasn?t even prepared correctly in the first place. There was a period of time when Legal Beans did a very good job with ribs, but that was years ago and it was over as quickly as it began.

been to LB multiple times, HP only once so far. LP is up and down, but while both have their downs, LB at least had some very big ups. this brisket sandwich i had from them last summer beats the tar out of the meal i had at HP:

Legal Beans has dropped off quality wise since they were featured in Bizarre Foods. They would have put Hamilton Pork to shame in their prime.

not for nothing but hamilton pork puts them to shame in my opinion. i couldnt even bring myself back to that place more than twice.

i think they're only open for lunch and breakfast now. i've seen them open recently, but sporadically

The lot filled with cars next to them is supposed to be getting developed, like a lot of stuff in that neighborhood. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I just swung by to get my brisket fix and it was closed, though their listed hours say they should be open. A customer recently mentioned to me that they seem to always be closed now. So are they gone for good? Shut down for vacation? Closed for catering? Would be terrible to lose them, I love that bbq.
