This. They will sell you anything they have, even the stuff they have on-hand for making prepared food (a head of lettuce, for instance).

They are not bad, but not great either (and the bread is somewhat frequently stale). They seem to do everything OK.

Christo's is amazing because whatever I need they seem to have tucked away somewhere.

Podewitz's has killer stuffed cabbage , true old school JC spot.

Their rice pudding is 5 stars as well.

I'll take a cat on the loaves over rat turds in the bags. Nice to see a cat earning his keep unlike all the freeloaders loafing around apartments.

The bread bed is its reward for a job well done.

Thumbs up, cat!

Monmouth Deli is open every day. Very early and not very late in the day. Good sandwiches and hot food, salads and caters office parties. Joe has been here for longer than any of us.

I assume the latter, Ockham's Razor and all that.

This actually made me laugh quite a bit. You get extra cool points for the geek-chic logic reference.

And yes, Little Sandwich Shop is pretty much a deli, that's right. I often forget about them.

Monmouth St is only open during the week, and closes early, so it's easy to miss.

The lack of a real deli, or pizza by the slice places is so bizarre.

You need to move to western HP/HC. We've got the excellent "old school" Monmouth St Deli, and 5 slice joints within a few blocks, Delenios, Carmines, Christos, Esperantos, & Rustique.

Not that I am aware of. For me, 2nd St on the weekend and Bon App or one of the Bodegas (none of which are great) during the week. Little Sandwich shop is OK as well for some things.

hopefully it is a quality "standard" NJ/NY style deli/sub shop with good sandwiches that are not too crazy. surprisingly, there isn't much I love in town since A1 closed.

Saw a new sign and inventory going into what's now being called 15th Street Deli at Erie/15th. Right by the basketball courts, where people play volleyball. hah

Anybody stopped in yet? It's on my commute from Downtown to Hoboken and this would be a sweet stop if they have good coffee/breakfast sandwiches.

If nobody chimes in I'll be the guinea pig this week.
