Books can go to the Grace Van Vorst Book Sale. Kids books are not sold, they are there for the taking. Drop off Sundays from 12:30. Not sure when they close.

For toys, maybe try Hope House, next to Saint Mary's (I think name transubstatiated to something else) on Second off Erie.
