I've just called them, and they say that I need to come to their office to pick up the sign. So as of now, that's how it is done.

I moved twice last year in Jersey City and called them, gave a credit card and they posted them. Both times I had cars in the way. I called the same number and they sent a guy down who ran the plates and called owners to get them moved.

We moved 2 months ago and had to pick up our signs from the parking authority and post them. There were still cars parked in the space on the move day and the police came by quickly and were able to track down our neighbors and have them move their vehicles. Good luck with your move!

This must be a VERY recent change. As of a few months ago, you still had to go in person to the Central Avenue office to pay for your signs, at least 48 hours prior to the date you need them, and then have to post them at least 24 hours in advance so they can be "enforceable" by police. I have NEVER heard of the Parking Authority posting signs for anyone.

Maybe things have changed since I last moved 5 years ago, but I had to go to the Parking Authority office on Central Ave. to buy and pick up the signs. I also had to put them up in front of my building. Even though I had put up the signs 2 days before my move, someone still parked there that morning. The cops actually made every effort to locate the car owner (looked up his registration and knocked on his door) before towing him.

Okay, thank you.
I didn't know these No Parking signs were posted by Parking Authority (I had thought that people who need such sign, get it from Parking Authority and post it by themselves).

Call JC Parking Authority (201) 653-6969.
They take credit cards over the phone and they will put the signs out 24-48 hours before your moving day. I think its $25. Good Luck.

What's the right way of doing this? I would like our mover to be able to park right in front of the building.
Contact Traffic and Transportation Department for permit and Parking Authority for the actual sign? Or can we directly go to Parking Authority to get the sign? If we have a big car, we would park the desired spot a couple of days in advance, but we have a Mini Cooper, so it won't work. Thanks,
