The 5.8 earthquake in Delaware back in 2011 shook JC a little. I've security cam footage of it shaking my cameras and window blinds.

For a renter's police, it's costing me an extra $23 for $50k in personal property coverage with a $2,500 deductible. I don't know what it would be for 1 - 2 family buildings (NJM doesn't offer homeowners insurance for 3 units on up.. but does offer renter's insurance).
NJ has the Ramapo fault and has had 5+ level earthquakes before. The last major quake in the region took place in NYC (5.5 level) in 1884. The fault line actually runs under 125th street in Manhattan.
