Avon has a "Skin So Soft Insect Repellent" that doesn't contain DEET (which is outlawed in Europe).
Also, apple cider vinegar repels mosquitoes AND if applied to bites that you already have, takes away itch. It is claimed to repel them also if you drink apple cider vinegar (use braggs brand). I would apply it topically and start drinking a small bit of it daily to build it up where it protects from inside. Just dilute it in some water because it has a strong taste. Good luck!

We have had success using a fan on our patio when dining. It makes it hard for mosquitoes to fly and also disperses the carbon dioxide that they use to locate their targets...

I think GV is the mosquito capital, I use to get eaten alive when I first got up there. I don't bother with those store sprays they are not that effect.
What has been working amazingly is a home made method. Measure 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar, adding it to the witch hazel in the spray bottle. Then add five or six drops of citronella oil into the spray bottle containing witch hazel and vinegar. Mosquitoes hate the smell and will land elsewhere. Its works and its cost effective. You just wont smell attractive but you will be less bitten.

Has anyone had any success in controlling, repelling, diminishing mosquitoes in their yards? They are out of control thanks to this rainy weather. I went in my garden a few evenings ago to try to enjoy it but came back in completely covered in bites despite having applied bug spray. Trying to figure out the best approach. Any suggestions?
