There are usually day laborers hanging out by Uhaul by the 1&9 circle when you rent the truck. You can hire 2 guys online after reading their reviews. Uhaul site gives you this option to 3rd party hourly helpers.

Hi. I am looking to hire a man or woman with a small box truck. Move date will be Saturday, May 2nd. I have a few friends who will be helping. The big stuff I have I need to move are a couple of lightweight bookcases, a futon, chair, dresser, 2 bicycles, and a queen size bed. I know I can rent a truck from U-Haul or zip car but I'd rather hire a local person who needs some extra money. Last time I moved I used Zipcar's vans. Pretty cheap, rents by the hour.
