According to the source, the man had blood on his clothing when he turned himself in at the South District police station. At about 3:40 p.m. the man was led from the Bergen Avenue police station in handcuffs, placed in a police car and driven away, the source said.

Homicide detectives responded to 29 Long St. -- a three-story apartment building between McAdoo and Rose avenues -- this afternoon after a woman was stabbed multiple times there, Hudson Count Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino said.

A woman has been fatally stabbed at a Jersey City apartment building today, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino confirmed this afternoon.

Detectives from the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and officers from the Jersey City Police Department are currently at 29 Long St., a three-story apartment building between McAdoo and Rose avenues.

Rubino said the woman was stabbed multiple times, but did not provide the age of the victim. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Rubino added.

Detectives could be seen interviewing someone inside an ambulance parked in front of the building at 1:30 p.m. A paramedics SUV and several police vehicles are parked nearby.
