On Palisade Avenue in the Jersey City Heights, a colorful neighborhood pub ?Fox & Crow? serves all-American burgers, cocktails shaken & stirred and a root beer float that could land Junior in the principal?s office. On weekends, the backroom ?Parlour? with its own bar, and family-style tables becomes a small club with a dazzling array of singer-songwriters, bands, and spoken-wordsmiths.

We swung by on Saturday night as well and had a lot of fun. Spoke with the owner and staff, and they all seemed excited about the future of the space.

Sounds like it's a step in the right direction. Avoided Caribbean Nights like the plague. Their old website had the following rules:

RULES:

MUST BE OVER 21 PHOTO ID REQ'D - NO GAMBLIMG - NO DRUGS - NO WEAPONS

Was there last night. Nice space. Still a soft opening, thus limited menu but their two signature cocktails were great, as was the service and decor.

We enjoyed chatting with her. Good beers/cocktails, too.

Ugh, well that's a pretty good reason to avoid this place like the plague.

There were TVs (playing SNL) but no pool table. The interior looked cool to me and it was packed for the ModCup party.

Good addition to the eastern heights.

It's great news! I hope there won't be TVs and a pool table. Plenty of those around. It would be nice to have a place where you can go. Hear music. Talk. Excited!

We were there last night and spoke to owners (same owners as AJ's). They said the space will be re-opening as Fox & Crow in about a week. They're going for a sort of pub-and-parlor concept, with the bar in front and a cocktail lounge area in the back.

The interior really does look great. Supposedly they hired the same designers who did the Kitchen at Grove Station downtown.

I stopped by the Modcup one year anniversary party last night at A.J's on Palisade Bar( formerly Carribean Nights in the Heights) last night and was pleasantly shocked by the interior: whereas it used to look about as inviting as a refrigerator with blazingly bright lights, beer signs on the windows, and unadorned white walls, there were beautiful hanging lamps with low light, rustic-looking wooden walls, etc?very warm and stylish. On the door I think I saw that the name was changing from A J's to Fox & Crow?does anyone know anything about this?
