There were TVs (playing SNL) but no pool table. The interior looked cool to me and it was packed for the ModCup party.

Good addition to the eastern heights.

Gazebo - Riverview Park

Not too shy to talk

Has anyone heard an update on this?

It's been almost 2 years now since Sandy destroyed it. Now it's getting covered in graffiti which is spreading to the sidewalks all over the park. Can't we just level it and plant or tree or something rather than debate the design?

Even before Sandy the gazebo's most common use was a hiding spot to get high behind.

thanks

This is all cool news. Whether Todd winds up being involved or not, it seems like new things are happening in JC and that's great. Parking would be a huge help cause a NJ venue needs to consider more than just JC residents. It can't rely much on people commuting from Brooklyn cause the same bands anyone books here will be playing there too.

Am I selfish to hope that this opens and Todd also opens his own thing? Maybe, considering not too long ago all anyone did was mourn Uncle Joes.

Thank you for your response Althea. I agree. Fulop has a proactive plan for this that directly supports our current residents.

When I posted this question yesterday I also emailed Healy and Fulop to hear their thoughts directly. This morning, Fulop called me directly and explained his strategy.

Of course go out and make your own choices come election day but I know I've made mine.

Flooding - Healy or Fulop?

To me this is a serious quality of life issue for a majority of downtown residents but I've heard a lot more about development both commercial and residential which will only further stress our crumbling infrastructure.

I've read what other cities have done but what is Jersey City going to do?

So who has the better plan to address downtown flooding and an overextended infrastructure (sewage, drainage, old pipes, and so on)

Paving Christopher Columbus

Has anyone heard a legitimate reason why a lot of downtown was paved over the past 2 years but Columbus remains a total disaster? That stretch from Jersey to the TPK overpass is seriously laughable.

the absolute last thing this town needs is another bar with TVs.

well, not the last thing. mediocre asian food would be the last thing.

Gunshots/Ogden Ave

Last week a house on westside of Ogden Ave got shot up between Bowers/South. Front of the house and Lexus was shot at. It was midnight, the night of the 25th. The guy who did it was supposedly on foot and fled to Riverview Park before cops got there.

Anyone hear any more info about this? I never saw anything on NJ.com or elsewhere.

i think hamilton inn has some cheap beer on thursdays well into the evening. they did last thursday at least. yea, the staff is comatose and the food is definitely expensive but it's better than the ale house (or simple) which were always empty. i don't think the hamilton inn has completely figured out what they want to be yet. is it a bar? is it marco/pepe north? who knows. but whatever. go have a drink and maybe a lobster pizza.

DCs is close and that's great. Other plus's are Shoprite, NYC view, and you're close to lightrail. Foodwise, there's lot of good mexican closeby and some good italian on Central. Many Hoboken restaurants will deliver along with Rasoi and other Newark Ave indian joints. This area of the Heights ain't Kansas but it's safer than where you're coming from and we've never had an issue. I had more safety issues living on Van Vorst park than I do here on Ogden.
