Be careful how you tip. We discovered after a long period of time that our regular cleaner, who we were tipping every time she cleaned our home, was not actually receiving the tip. She had no idea what we were being charged and was required to take all $ to the owner of the "company". There may have also been a fear factor as well.

oh, that's just heartbreaking.

As a general rule, any service provider that has keys to my home and access to all my stuff gets tipped VERY well. Plus the holiday bonus.

I tip my two housekeepers (who are not a part of a cleaning service and come monthly) 25%, but I think they are very reasonable in what they charge.

Absolutely tip if they work for a service (and if they do a good job). I can't imagine they are making pots of money, and they just cleaned your bathroom etc. If there are two women I give them $10.00/each for a few hours of work.

I enjoy tipping. It brightens people's day. Glad I wasn't raised to be tight.

If it's a cleaning service, then a small tip is appreciated, as they're only getting a percentage of what you're paying.

The amazing woman who keeps me free of my own filth is independent, so I don't tip per visit, but give her a holiday bonus.

Other countries get by without such an extensive tipping system and their shit gets done. Imagine that.

No, I give an extra paycheck around holiday time, but I do not tip after every cleaning.

Curious to know if other folks on this board tip cleaning people working in their homes.
