Developer offers to repair damage to NJ war memorial

Associated Press 8:24 p.m. EDT October 2, 2014

JERSEY CITY ? A Jersey City developer has offered to make repairs to a Korean War memorial that was vandalized and hit with graffiti.

City officials said that Fields Development Group offered to repair damaged floodlights, restore granite and remove graffiti. Mayor Steven Fulop says that developer Rob Caulfield, a partner with the firm, emailed him to offer his services and money.

Members of the Korean War Veterans of Jersey City reported the damage to police on Wednesday.

The investigation into the vandalism is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Jersey City police

While we're at it, let's add a memorial that remembers how destructive, counter-productive, and immoral these wars are in the first place. We keep repeating the same atrocities over and over again.

Cage the lights to protect them - I'd also like to know how strong those flood light brackets actually are, since they suggest kids using chalk on the sidewalk / road can break them. Could it be that they are made of an inferior type / grade of steel or casting ... or that Made in China has its issues !

This sucks. It's an odd kind of memorial, but it shouldn't be vandalized. If there's a fund set up, I'd definitely contribute.

Does anyone know if there is a fund set up to help pay for repairs? Or have contact information for anyone who helps with the upkeep on the memorial to talk to about setting up a kickstarter campaign?
