When you rent commercial space sometimes a tax and insurance fee is in the price. That is probably the 5k litm is responsible for.

I can think of 1,500,000 reasons, although the price seems way out of line for just the business. Recent tax records show, as others have pointed out already that the owner of the building is the Helens Pizza people, leading me to assume that the 1.5M price is just for the business/liquor license/equipment. The $5000 tax bill is still the mysterious part of that listing, something is not right here.

Well that could be WHY she's selling :)

I actually hope any potential new owners don't change too much about the place. I don't go to LITM terribly often, but it's one of the only "slightly-swankier-than-pub-but-not-corny-like-Powerhouse Lounge" kind of places in DTJC, now that Bar Majestic is no longer a bar.

I think the business is for sale not the building.

The building is a 4S-C-B-3U-H no way it would only be 1.5 mil downtown.

Did the building owners make the commercial space some kind of business condo? So the tax on just that space is 5K?

No, the owner of LITM is Jelynne Jardiniano.

The owner of Helen's Pizza is Steven Kalcanides.

So check the menu before you go to some place. They have prices listed there.

i went once or twice, i personally never cared for it. I find it a bit lame , the one stop everyone knows your name brat pack venue. But again that's my personal opinion and not a a reason to start the typical JClist attack. I would love to see a gallery in that space if at all possible.

The listing is inaccurate. The owners of that property pay $19,396.80.

They appear to own a number of properties in Jersey City.

The owner of the building the Lamp Post is in pays $10,000 a year, including the business and the apartments upstairs. And people are fighting the reval? This record says they're paying $18,921 in taxes for LITM.
