About 5 years ago there was a 10-point buck dashing around Downtown JC before leaping into the Hudson at Exchange Place and swimming to Brooklyn, anybody remember that? I have no idea how a deer ends up in Jersey City, it is surrounded by either water or dense urban areas all around.

This doesn't surprise me. Last week I saw 25 geese (5 adults and 20 goslings) wandering around the parking lot at Best Buy looking for grass around 7am.
It was sort of amazing

How in the world does a deer end up here? Did it swim the Hack from the meadowlands? How did it survive crossing Tonnelle! Wow.

Deer caught in Jersey City Western Slope
By The Jersey Journal on June 09, 2013 at 6:10 PM A deer was caught this afternoon in the back yard of a Jersey City house at North Street and Terrace Avenue in the Western Slope. Jersey City police cornered and tranquilized the deer, which is now being transported to the Liberty Humane Society to be checked out by a veterinarian, according to news photographer Joe Shine who was on the scene and was recruited by officials to transport the deer in his truck. The deer had been running loose in the neighborhood before it was captured. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... ity_wes.html#incart_river
