Chris and his Dad Don run the business and were able to fix my central AC unit when the first person I hired was unable to diagnose a very strange problem.

They stayed with it, even though they were very busy with the 100 degree heat days, and were very fair with the charge.

For the vibration, can you have the units mounted on some vibration isolation pads? I have used pads for the air-handlers.

If there is enough play in the lines, it might be possible to get them under the units without having to evacuate / disconnect them. If they are R-22 based condensers, recharging them would be incredibly expensive. Unless they can be converted over to using R-407c.

Based on the reviews here I called New England HVAC to inspect a noise issue we are having from all the compressors vibrating on the roof of our condo. The guy was 20 minutes late and never even bothered to come off the ladder. He held onto the ladder and said "Yep, i knew it, you won't want to do this." After 20 seconds of visual inspection he said it would cost 20k to move the units to different spots on the roof. Next he says "Well at least you had a f^&^#!n elevator" and climbs down and exits! Didn't even wait for me to climb down the ladder to get into the elevator. I was so turned off by his attitude that I didn't even bother to ask him to look at my individual A/C which needed repair.

As for maintenance of my individual unit I was able to get All Week HVAC to come out on the same day, although there was a $125 service charge. The tech was on time and said the fan motor was broken. Called the base and they came back with a quote of $875 plus tax. No way I was agreeing to that.

Got a hold of Bruce at BPM Designs after mistakingly calling a plumber who recommended Bruce. Showed up as scheduled a few hours later, very professional. Fixed a faulty wire for less than the service charge of All Weeks. AC is back to running fine and I'm a happy man. BPM by a landslide.

I'm happy to report that PSEG came and replaced the piping and AC condenser in my mother's home. They were the cheapest option and I'm also paying the full price in 24 months - no interest. Compared to Royal which requires a 1/3 deposit last time I called.

I decided to use Royal since they are right up the road from me... hopefully they are as good as everyone says... Thanks again.!

I called royal and Don came to visit and the estimate came in at about 1k more than PSEG for the same job. Plus, they have Lenox versus PSEG who will supply me with York.

Another recommendation for Royal Heating and Cooling. I thought Chris was great and his father very honest and down to earth. They found major problems caused by the original installation being done wrong.
I like contractors that tell me when they find problems related or unrelated to the original job. I don't want them to just cover them up or be silent about them so they can just get out of there.

When they had problems getting the right part from GPS, they finally replaced the whole condensor without adding anything to the bill.

I second New England HVAC. They are straight forward, honest and professional. Their shop is in Hoboken but the owner lives in Downtown JC (7th or 5th, not sure).

New England Air Conditioning. I think they are in Hoboken. Guys are great and don't try to pull a fast one on you.
