Now that we've branched out on signage in this thread why not put a No-Turn on Red sign at the west end foot of Jefferson Ave. not far from the fishing entrance to The Reservoir up in the Heights. Cars turning right going north on Summit Ave. are turning onto a narrow lane on Summit which leaves the cyclists and pedestrains in danger because the cars are making sudden wide turns. There is a public school there, a blind school, and a fire house. With all this activity the No-Turn on Red sign would help quell the impulse to make a dashing turn for the worst.

There's one on Palisade, near Patterson Plank Rd. I think it would help a lot. Definitely caught my eye.

Does anyone believe that blinking stop signs might help downtown traffic flow or would these also be ignored?

It must have been a trial of some sort. I drive/bike down that road at least twice a week and I recall seeing a cop stationed in the parking lot on the west side of the road more often than not watching the new stop signs.

I wondered myself if it was a safety implement or just a cash sign (would they really do that?).

The roads are wide enough that I've never felt in danger on the bike, but maybe it was to help with the lack of a sidewalk for the pedestrians? Although there usually aren't that many....

Drove the back way down Coles last night. The sign post is still there, but the stop sign at 16th St. has been removed. Was it a mistake?

I agree it was a surprise to see the new stop signs back there. At first I thought it was a stop sign on 16th that had been twisted sideways by the wind.

Maybe not well implemented, but they did need better traffic control on that street - lots of people treat it like a racetrack.

This is close to the Storage Facility and what we locals consider the back road. The stop signs are on Coles. There are NO white lines to identify these new stop signs. And they have removed the stop sign on 16th. (or maybe it's 15th?)

So far I've seen 3 vehicles run the stop signs. (If you drive this on a regular basis you'd never notice these stop signs, again, nothing painted across the road). I've also seen a truck take advantage of the fact there is no stop sign now on the North East corner of this "intersection" and run in to Coles almost hitting a vehicle who didn't realize they no longer have a stop sign on 16th.

It's ridiculous the city thinks this will work without any safety lines, or anything identifying it's NEW. For me alone to witness 3 vehicles run this and one almost accident in less than a week?
