So what time should a 15 year old be out according to you? You never were invited to a party as a teen? Never caught a late movie, went bowling, shot pool, went to an arcade, went to a teen night event or teen night club? Their is a reason they can go to these places until closing, many feel it is not too late for them to be out.

I seriously would like to know how late anyone thinks a parent should set a curfew for a 15, 16 or 17 year old?

In this City nothing good usually happens after midnight, especially in that neighborhood. I wouldn't let my kid be out that late on their own. Maybe if they had adult supervision, but not on their own.
So how late would you allow them out and until what age?

Why was he out at 1:30am anyway, was he getin skittles and ice tea?
Also why was Jumbo Fried Chicken open soo late, are they going to be fined?
Soo many questions and no answers..we need Al Sharpton & Jessie Jackson here in JC ASAP to help handle this case cause this don't happen in Jersey City...EVER!!!

You guys on Jclist get annoying with the curfew thing. As usual you like most on here don't understand how the curfew works. It is spring break for the schools which means it is not a school night and no curfew violation can be issued. Also a first offense would be nothing more then a warning. Curfew laws are nothing more then feel good laws that don't prevent crime and waste resources.

As for the store being fined, for what? They have every right to be open that late. They are not in the zone for the stores with curfews if that is what you mean.

They are probably afraid that whoever beat their son would come back and kill him for ratting them out. Sad, but who knows...

and once again I say this is why things will never change in certain parts of this town:

"...were extremely uncooperative with investigators, reports said."

Perhaps a call to the ward council person of that area and the 3 at large council people would generate some answers.

Jersey City police say boy beaten with gun, but parents won't cooperate with investigators

Published: Friday, April 13, 2012, 3:02 AM
By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal

A 15-year-old Jersey City boy had teeth knocked out during an assault by a gunman in a Greenville restaurant early yesterday morning, and the man pulled the trigger but the weapon did not fire, officials said.

Police responded to the Jersey City Medical Center after the 1:30 a.m. incident and the Cator Avenue boy said he was inside Jumbo Fried Chicken at Cator and Rose avenues when three men approached, one with a handgun, reports said.

The boy was ordered to strip off his clothing and the armed man then struck him in the head and face with the silver handgun, reports said. The officers said the boy?s face was swollen, his left temple was bruised, his lips were swollen and he had lost teeth, reports said.

After the beating, the gunman trained the weapon on the victim and pulled the trigger, but it did not go off, reports said, adding the victim took that as a cue to flee and ran out heading toward home.

The victim?s parents were adamant that they wanted no police action in the matter and were extremely uncooperative with investigators, reports said.

?We would expect cooperation to ascertain who these violent actors are,? Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said yesterday. The gunman and accomplices fled on one yellow bicycle and two silver ones, reports said.
