While I love to see new businesses and certainly hope they do well, I'm not hopeful that an art-centric business will survive that far off the beaten path. For some reason, I don't think that Ram's and Binny's are going to help draw that kind of clientele.

But I hope I'm wrong!

Keep in mind that "The Village" Area -- is the cheapest and hence the youngest area of all Downtown. It is the most Brooklyn like -- and as far as Ram's store -- well he is leaving after 25 years and looking to rent out his storefront -- if you know any art minded people that are looking!

You should really just walk around "The Village" area and you will find that there is a lot of stuff now open on both Brunswick and Monmouth (just off Newark Avenue) and the 4th Street Art and Music festival is based right there -- not to mention... well ok... Madame Claude's, Abbey"s Hookah Bar, Nha Trang, Legal Beans new BBQ place, and Healy's New Tavern....

It was right on Newark Avenue -- right around the corner from (and in between) Madame Claude's Cafe and Abbey's Pub Quote:

I was walking by the old Nine Lives space today and saw that there is a new business going in. I spoke with the owner, who was there working on it, and she said its going to be an arts/crafts place. She thinks they will open in mid-August.

I'm not sure if its a supply store, or a gallery type place that sells people's work, but either way this will be a great addition to the area. I wish her the best.
