Goldman has 35,000 employees, I think unless you graduated magna cum laude from Harvard they don't give you the opportunity to be a crook. Though I suppose when they accept massive fees to construct instruments that they take out short positions on the Goldman commoner could be an unwitting accessory. I looked it up, I guess the ferry is only 5.50 to world financial center. Still not very competitive, though. They ought to offer a discount at off-peak times.

Money is not an issue when you are a crook from Goldman. All you have to do is go to work and steal some more. Goldman's casino is open daily and has first dibs on your bank savings, pensions, IRA's, 401K's and any other "investments" you may think you have right now. Then they take our taxes and give themselves a few thousand $500K bonuses just to stick it in a little deeper to us scum. Then they spread some cash around the gubmit to make sure that they let us all know that we are broke and that it's the teachers, cops and fireman's fault. Those public employees shouldn't be living in the lap of luxury that they do. Why the heck should they have pensions and benefits for risking their lives and teaching our children? Don't even get me going on how its possible that those damn janitors have yachts and jets and stuff. It's disgraceful!

Well the PATH does dock a few blocks north of the Goldman tower and the ferry docks in front of their building.

$5.50 seems like a fun trip -- I wonder if I can take my bike?

Hate to admit it, but they are right if you think about.

In NYC folks with money take cabs (they would not be caught dead in the subway with the unwashed masses).

And Goldman's JC employees have been PO-d about having to take PATH for the longest time.

So Goldman made a good move - a luxurious private ferry to placate the grumbling employees.

NY Waterway has provided a fairly good service over the years. But they've always struggled to keep operating and make a profit. Personnaly, I'd hate to see this service kill off NY Waterway.

Goldman?s Own Ferries Will Ply the Hudson

The new Goldman Sachs ferry Jersey, at temporary docking quarters on 39th Street in Manhattan.

?Tis the season for investment bankers to tool around in Italian sports cars purchased with this year?s bonus checks. But only the employees of Goldman Sachs will be riding on their own ferryboats.

Two sleek ferries that Goldman ordered from a shipyard in Bellingham, Wash., have arrived in New York and are scheduled to go into service later this month carrying commuters between docks in Jersey City and Battery Park City in Lower Manhattan. Goldman has office towers in both locations, and its employees often shuttle between the two buildings.

The interiors of the ferries are plusher than those of the New York Waterway service that they will replace, and which Goldman Sachs has been subsidizing. But the boats ? one named York, the other Jersey ? will be open for public use for a fare of $5.50 each way across the Hudson River, the same as the New York Waterway fare. During commuting hours, even Goldman employees will pay that fare, though they will ride free between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., a spokeswoman for the firm said.

The spokeswoman declined to say why Goldman spent about $5 million to have ferries built to operate on a commuter route where about two-thirds of the users have no connection to Goldman. The boats, which have pronounced catamaran hulls, were designed to be quieter and more comfortable to ride than the ferries they would replace. They also should help to calm the nerves of Battery Park City residents who have been complaining about ferry noise and blaming Goldman for much of it.
