"Our stolen car ratio is very low in Jersey City," Martinez said. "This is not a typical find."
This quote is bullshit. I've had my car stolen 2 times since I've lived downtown. And my friend had his car stolen in broad daylight on my street. I'm glad they provided real perspective.

View Larger Map View Larger Map Jersey City police say Lojack signal draws them to Pavonia Avenue lot where they find 11 vehicles reported stolen from New York Saturday, December 04, 2010 By BRETT WILSHE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Jersey City police recovered 11 stolen vehicles on Thursday from a privately owned parking lot and an adjacent lot on Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City Police Lt. Edgar Martinez said. Martinez said that around 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, a police officer driving near the new Journal Square Park and Lock parking deck and adjacent lot at 801 Pavonia Ave. picked up a signal from a LoJack security device, meaning a stolen car was in the vicinity. Jersey City detectives were dispatched to the scene and found a gray 2008 Toyota Highlander registered in New York that had been reported stolen. The vehicle identification number had been tampered with, he said. Martinez said no arrest warrants have been issued. "There are currently no suspects, as this case is under investigation," Martinez said. The police, working with the state Division of Criminal Justice, found 10 more cars scattered throughout the parking deck and adjacent lots that had been reported stolen by their owners, Martinez said. The cars were impounded by the police. He said all the stolen cars had VIN numbers that had been altered or destroyed, and all of them were registered in New York. Finding this quantity of stolen vehicles in Jersey City is unusual, Martinez said. "Our stolen car ratio is very low in Jersey City," Martinez said. "This is not a typical find."
