I'm sorry, I know other people like it, but I hate the "6th Borough" nickname for Jersey City. I don't care if they want to use it for other places, but for JC, I think it makes it sound like we don't have our own thing going, we just desperately want to be the little sister to NYC. And we all know that's not true. Don't we?

Oh, so what's the "our own thing" we have going on? I spent the whole train ride back from Manhattan trying to figure out what it was.

How can somewhere nowhere near NYC be considered a 6th borough? That is just silly. Why don't we just go all out with the ridiculousness and say Beijing or maybe Moscow should be the 6th borough. How about London?

I like how the thing says "or even Yonkers" as if Yonkers is less plausible than Atlanta or Cleveland.

FullSummary Poll: Where is New York's 6th Borough? If New York had to pick a 6th borough (or find a replacement for Staten Island if they ever secede), where would it be? A classic pick is Philadelphia, and more recently there's been CRAZY TALK of Cleveland, Ohio becoming a destination for priced-out New Yorkers. In fact, we received many personal messages from ex-New Yorkers living over there, singing its praises as the nation's "best kept secret."

Before Cleveland, there was talk of Jersey City, Atlanta, and even Yonkers as being contenders for the coveted title?they've all garnered press as the latest migration trend (as have the suburbs, and Kansas City). So, if we're going to extend a prestigious 6th Borough title upon one of them, which should it be?
