Good to see that since the original post we now have Tachair Books. Also, Word Bookstore on the way. JC is a reading town. (Will continue to go to Grace Church too, no mistake!)

Yes it was, but new books still coming in, and next week it will be back to normal.

And you were right about the roofing project. Lots of very old dust filtered down during the work which we will be cleaning up this week.

Thanks for your patronage of the book sale.

BTW if you have never been, check it out. We have a fantastic selection of books, alot of current editions, for only fifty cents or a dollar.

Keep in mind:

1. Used books are more waterproof that readers
2. Nobody does a snatch and grab of a paperback on the PATH
3. If you leave the book somewhere you are only out $0.50
4. When done you can bring back to Grace and re-recycle!

Thanks!

Closed today. Probably because of roof replacement.

Don't you think that's kind of the point?? If the general population had ANY interest in books, at least one (or, two) bookstores would have survived. Alas, the people have spoken. Sadly, reading and/or buying books is (or, seems to be) a very low priority for most people in JC.

Thanks for reminding me. I was going to go and now you've shown me the light. I'll bring my laptop to the beach like I originally planned.

For a town without a book store, you would think there would be more people taking advantage of the weekly book sale at Grace Van Vorst on Erie. It's like Downtown's best kept secret.

They have an amazing sale every Sunday from 12 to 4. I go there once every few weeks and pick up some paperbacks for my commute.

It's unbelievable to me that this place isn't more hopping on Sunday afternoons. They have a great assortment, and they always seem to have my favorite authors.

The prices cannot be beat also. Today I bought 15 books for a total of $8.50. That's basically the price of one paperback. Two of the books I bought are hardcovers and of the 13 paperback, 10 of them were like new (no folds in the binding).

Hardcovers are $1 and paperbacks are .50 cents.

I have no affiliation with the church, although the people there seem really nice.

They also accept donations every Sunday, so it's also a good place to donate your old books.

It has become such a pleasant routine for me on a Sunday afternoon that I really just wanted to share.

Here's the link to the church web site. Check out the calendar and see booksale on Sundays.
