I purchased my place in Dec, and have not received one bill. I sort of gave up calling them. I guess I should give it another go.

Schundler handed the City Water Dept. over to United Water. The City has been f*cked ever since.
Thanks Bret !

I hear nothing but complaints about our antiquated water supply on this board, until they want to raise rates.
The simple fact of the matter is that most of the country (JC included) has been paying below the cost of infrastructure maintenance on all sorts of things, including water. The cost of putting off repairs and upgrades for decades is sudden and drastic increases when repairs can no longer be put off. As evidenced by monthly water main breaks in JC repairs can no longer be put off. I doubt these increases come close to actually paying for all the upgrades that are needed.

Why would you not think that's not the case?
Do you think Healy, Gaugahn, Brennan, Vega, Richardson, Flood and the rest of team Healy give a s**t. They have been bleeding Jersey dry. They don't care that their property tax increase will put residents, especially senior citizens out of there homes. Do you see any of them propose solutions to the issues Jersey City faces regarding the Budget, Taxes, Crime. They don't care!!!!!! Is this really true? Why would Steven Fulop attend this meeting if it was not applicable to J.C.

If anyone is interested in going to the public hearing and needs a ride, Councilman Fulop and Bill O'Dea have rented a bus.
It leaves at 4pm. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... y_politicians_charte.html Quote: Jersey City politicians charter bus to United Water rate hike hearing By Melissa Hayes/The Jersey Journal

This is not applicable to JC. JC water and sewer rates have already gone up by about 25% this year. The add you cited is for Bergen County. The BPU does not regulate JC water rates. OUr wonderful MUA does that job because of a deal Schundler made. Now, the MUA increases rates to help the city balance their budget. MUA has 15 minute public meetings where public input is non-existant--just ask ricardo from the hudson reporter. The MUA needs to be demolished political hack job by political hack job. Its a cesspool. Just take a look at the expensive cars in their parking lot while our sewage system backs up continously.

So less water is been used and they want to charge more? That makes no sense. If people use too much they use it as an escuxe to hike rates! WTF@!%!!!!

April 15th is the hearing. I believe Fulop is attending this meeting. I'm guessing the main increase is coming from lower consumption & revenue from the industrial sector...

Yes. This was in in yesterdays Jersey Journal. Here's the part that got cut off in the first post. A RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER USING 30 CCF OR 22,440 GALLONS OF WATER PER QUARTER WILL SEE HIS/HER BILL INCREASE FROM $115.70 TO $144.94, AN INCREASE OF $29.24 PER QUARTER OR 25.3%.

This is on top of the existing 25%? So they are going for 25% annualized increases from here on out?
