The seal is still sitting there. It's right off of the new bridge connecting Newport to Hoboken right in front of the Hoboken light rail stop.

SO what happened to the seals? Were they rescued.
Good thing they don't live in Canada or they would be clubbed to death. Disgusting the Canadian Seal hunt of the baby seals.

2010 Celebrity Deaths Megan Fox -- Then & Now Jennifer Aniston Country Superstar Taylor Swift Jessica Simpson: Then & Now Best Picture Blunders Celebrities Turning 40 In 2010 It was an unusual sight, to say the least, in Jersey City when a baby seal became stranded on the Hudson River for hours.

The animal wasn't sunbathing by choice on a log. For hours, bystanders looked on as the seal flapped, wiggled and inched along ? a delicate balancing act to be sure.

"I was completely shocked," Hoboken resident Andrew Jackman said. "I was worried if he was going to be okay or not."

The seal washed up late Saturday morning. No one is sure where it came from, or how it got there.

"Maybe it dropped off a little boat or something," bystander Yelena Yegorov said.

Yegorov used the unusual sighting as a nature lesson for her four-year-old daughter Sasha.

"He's a baby seal!" Sasha exclaimed. "Where's his mommy seal?"

Mel Correa has been patrolling the Jersey City promenade for years.

"I was like wow, you never see that, that's really peculiar," Correa said. "Maybe you see a school of fish or something, but not a seal ? never."

This is the third seal to get stranded in waters surrounding New York City since last month.

Some see their presence as a good sign.

"I heard it's a great sign for the water that there's feeding for them," Jersey City resident Mike DelLago said.

The seal did not appear to be in distress. The security guards are hopeful it will safely get back into the water.

CBS 2's Kathryn Brown contributed to this report.

Baby Seal Spotted In Hudson

Another day, another seal sighting! Yesterday some Jersey City locals spotted a baby seal on a log in the Hudson River. According to WCBS, the little one wasn't sunbathing, but appeared to be trapped?"for hours, bystanders looked on as the seal flapped, wiggled and inched along."

Just last week a seal was spottted in the Hudson right near West 64th Street. As with that one, this baby seal likely rode the high tide up there, and hopefully was lifted off when it rose again.
