The cabbie should have been patient while the drug transaction was in progress !

Thats crazy. Wonder if the situation would have been different if it was at night and no people around.

"Do you want to be killed?" is what cab driver says 2 gunmen asked when he wanted car to stop blocking street

Saturday, April 03, 2010

Two men drew guns on a cab driver in Jersey City's Greenville section early yesterday when the cabbie asked the driver of a double-parked car to move so he could proceed with his passengers, officials said.

Officers dispatched to Bidwell and Ocean avenues after the 1:15 a.m. incident were told by the 49-year-old East Orange man that the men pointing handguns at him said "Do you want to be killed?" reports said.

The driver said he was heading west on Bidwell from Ocean on his way to drop passengers off when he came across the double-parked silver-colored, 4-door Chevrolet with temporary plates, reports said.

The cabbie told police that when he asked the driver to pull over so his cab could pass, both the driver and a man standing on the sidewalk pointed handguns at him and threatened him, reports said.

The taxi driver said he was getting out of his cab when another vehicle pulled up and frightened the gunmen, and the Chevy sped off and the gunman ran into a nearby vacant apartment building, reports said.

Police scoured the area but were not able to locate the gunmen, who are wanted on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reports said.

The driver of the double-parked car is described as 5-foot-10, in his mid-30s and of medium build, reports said, adding that he had a black handgun. The second gunman was 5-foot-11, in his mid-30s, of slim build and wearing a multicolored sweater, reports said, adding that he wielded a silver-colored handgun.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
