now only if the JCPD could get rid of the thugs that stand outside of Target and harass you into buying candy.

WTF?? We have enough trash mucking up the streets of JC, why do these people feel the need to come here to break into cars? Stay in your neighborhoods, people!

When I first moved to downtown JC in 2002 I attended a block meeting, where the police officers informed us that many of the car thefts taking place were being committed by people taking the PATH from Newark, and were focused on areas within walking distance of the stations. Looks like some things never change. Which is why I hope they never ever build a light rail system on the old embankment. I live too close to it.

Excellent job by the JCPD. These break-ins have been epidemic lately and hopefully these punks were the virus.

Out of town transient punks, what Newark isn't good enough. Pretty smart though take a PATH train and walk over to the big department store for the kill. Betcha can't do that in "Nork". We should sic our own thugs on these scoundrels.

Cops nab four Newark teens in Jersey City car burglary
By Tom Shortell February 23, 2010, 6:55AM Jersey City police investigating a string of burglaries Downtown arrested four 15-year-old boys trying to break into a parked car Sunday night. Police were doing surveillance on 14th Street after cameras had caught images of seven juveniles breaking into a vehicle in the Target parking lot Saturday night. The area has seen a rash of car burglaries recently, police said. Around 8:52 p.m., police saw four boys approach a Toyota Camry parked in the lot, police said. All four matched descriptions of burglars from the night before, police said. Two boys stood a few parking spots away to serve as lookouts, while the other two stood next to the car, police said. When one of the boys pulled out a screwdriver and reached for the car, police moved in to avoid damage to the sedan. The four boys, all residents of Newark, were charged with criminal attempt and possession of burglary tools, police said.
