thanks for everyone who called and emailed the mayor's and the council member's offices ... even if they cannot read, they should be able to understand that collective message we are sending to them ...

Gaughan once said when a resident mentioned they sent him an email, that he did not use email and email was for yuppies.
Not sure Brennan is sharp enough to use email either.
Lopez might be able to use email, but most likely would need a manual of instructions, sort of like the manual she used during the campaign debates, reading line for line from it never looking at the people in audience.

Not surprisingly, the only response I received so far was from Fulop (and within an hour) and I only cc'd him on the letter to the mayor. I cc'd all their aides, too, assuming the aides are the ones who may actually sort through the emails...

I feel like it might be ambitious to believe that citizens can really affect politics in a place like Jersey City, or Hudson County for that matter. These people are part of a machine, and that machine seems to operate according to its own desires. That being said, It doesn't hurt to try!

How embarrassing that this is some of the make up of our City Council.

Thanks for the list. I sent emails to most of them (and their aides). Do you think they actually read their emails?

You definitely want to contact 5 of the choices above because that is how many levers were available in the voting booth when you chose who were to fill the seats they now fill. Whether you voted for them or not they now hold the ace on the tax scene here in J.C. Ultimately all 9 council members decide the fate of the entire city.

There are multiple ways we can demonstrate our dissatisfaction with the Mayor, the members of the City Council, and the current political power structure of the City.

We need change, and one of the ways we can effect change is by going to city council meetings. Another alternative is to call the Mayor and members of the City Council every day and demand that they resign, lower taxes, provide better service, take a pay cut, etc.

Name, contact information to the Mayor and the members of the council are

Mayor Jerramiah Healy

If you have a moment during your day, spend a minute and call any of them to tell how negatively these proposed tax increases are affecting you and your family. They need to hear our voices and they need to start listening to our ideas.
