A Bayonne firefighter and his wife were arrested at their Warren County home this morning and charged with running a commercial marijuana farm, city officials said.

Bayonne firefighter Kenneth Eisenhauer, 46, and his wife, Roseanne Eisenhauer, 52, both of Oxford, were charged with maintaining a marijuana cultivation facility, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, officials said.

The Warren County Prosecutor's Office also charged the Eisenhauers with child neglect.

Bayonne Police Department Special Investigations Unit and the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, assisted by local police officers, searched the couple's home and made the arrests at 10:30 a.m., officials said.

During the raid police discovered a tent used for grow marijuana with lights, exhaust fans and other apparatus used for growing the pot commercially, officials said.

"It was excellent job on part of special investigation unit and other outside agencies," Bayonne Chief Robert Kubert said. "It was a long tedious investigation that came to a rewarding and successful conclusion."

The couple lived with their 10-year-old son, officials said.

Kenneth Eisenhauer, who started working for the city in March 1995, has been suspended without pay pending his termination, Mayor Mark Smith said.

"If you break the law, you don't work for Bayonne," Smith said in a statement.

During the investigation, which started in September after police received a tip, authorities found that Kenneth Eisenhauer was representing his wife as a research scientist and using the Internet to order a "variety of controlled dangerous substances" from overseas, officials said.
