I here you cyclotronic on prices, but you have to consider that there are labor, salvage rights etc involved. That's pretty bizzare about OGT! lol

I'll second Build It Green, but definitely hit or miss on good quality stuff.

I'll check out Recyling the Past..one of the challenges is finding a door in the size we need, that swings the right way, etc. This is why I'd like to find a place that has good prices AND that can customize the door to the size we need. If we had the carpentry skills then we'd buy one super cheap and refinish..Build it Green had doors for a song, highly rec that place if you have skills.

Recycling the Past is great. They're not exactly cheap, but definitely noticibly less expensive than Demolition Depot and Old Goode Things (where I don't like to shop anyway, since they're run by a religious cult. For more info, google "Church of Bible Understanding" or COBU). I've gotten an interior door there and subway tiles. It's an easy detour off the Parkway if you're returning to JC from the shore, assuming you're at LBI or further South.

They are in Barnegat just off the GSPW @ exit 63. They have an excellent selection of interior and exterior doors as well as all kinds of old plumbing stuff. (claw foot tubs etc.). I got a 4 panel door from the Stanford White mansion for $200 last year.

I\'ve looked online at Old Good Things & Demolition Depot (didn\'t go in person), and went to Build it Green in Astoria...all decent prices but haven\'t found the size I need. I was planning a trip to Scranton as there are a couple big Salvage places there (including one who can customize), but was just trying to find a more local place if possible. Once we find a door then we will need a craftsman/carpenter (specializing in doors, not general), so if you have anyone you recommend please feel free to pass along their info

Whoops, I didn't finish reading the OP. That place IS expensive. Silver fox in Albany NY has some reasonably priced doors too.

Try Olde Good Things, in manhattan. You may find them expensive also but worth checking out. Also, if you are up for a drive, they have a HUGE warehouse in Scranton, PA. The prices out there aren't so bad.
