This is the anniversary for the Exchange Place - WTC tunnels. The centennial for the Newport/Hoboken - Christopher tunnels already happened last year. You may have noticed the advertisements on the trains showing old images of the PATH system when it was still the H&MRR recently.

That's pretty awesome -- thanks GP. My dad still calls the PATH "the tubes" and it always makes me laugh.
You'd think there would be some sort of celebration or something for the 100 anniversary. Or maybe there is and I just haven't noticed it?

Jersey City Tubes Make Their Debut
By William S. Niederkorn Tuesday, July 20, 1909 Train tunnels that make it a three-minute commute from Jersey City to Lower Manhattan opened yesterday, and 40,000 turned out to celebrate. V.I.P.?s had the first turn starting at 10:15 a.m., and commuters got their chance to pay and ride at 3 in afternoon. The day featured a joyous parade and speeches, and at night the New Jersey sky was lighted up with a profusion of fireworks. 40,000 Celebrate New Tubes?
