The city of Jersey City has no control over the Port Authority. The only elected officials with any control of the Port Authority are the governors of New York and New Jersey, contrary to what Mayor Bloomberg would have you believe. The power battle between New York and New Jersey is as old as the Port Authority itself, and at present, New York has done a better job of manipulating the agenda than New Jersey has.

They are working at night...and weekend days too. Maybe you are the one who suggested that the City of J.C. collect the garbage at nights as well.

That was a stupid plan to begin with... thank God they effed up the master plan for the WTC putting everything behind... that is something I can't believe the esteemed JC Council didn't bring up when the idea to shut down PATH service on weekends to WTC was published last winter.

The closures are postponed until after the NJ gubernatorial election.

Well, it's Summer and the PATH seems to be running to the WTC on weekends.
I asked a gaggle of 4 PATH cops if they knew when the closures would begin. THree said they had never heard of the issue and the fourth, the highest ranking, said he thought that the planned closures were "off."

I check a PATH website and it mentioned weekend alternate routes during closure and linked to another site for details. The other site linked me back to the FIRST site for details.

Are they going to close weekends or not? If so, starting when? Does anyone know?

Or is it possible nobody in PATH management could make a decision so monumental and they are waiting on Obama or somebody higher up?
