16 year old pistol whipped, robbed in Jersey City
by Tom Shortell The Jersey Journal Thursday February 19, 2009, 12:28 PM The home of a Jersey City 16 year old was robbed this morning after three men mugged him on Sip Avenue. The victim told police he left his Sip Avenue apartment around 4 a.m. and headed west toward Van Wagenen Avenue. As he was walking, three men in masks pulled up in a black sedan and got out. One of the men put him in a headlock while another pulled out a silver, semi-automatic pistol and bashed him in the head and face with it, according to reports. Two of the men then held him down while the third took his wallet and keys. The trio then got back into the car and drove off. Police said afterward they were unable to locate a crime scene. The man staggered to a Van Wagenen Avenue stairwell where he passed out, according to reports. When he regained consciousness, he went home and found his apartment ransacked with clothing, jewelry and children's toys missing. The victim called a friend who took him to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment for bruises and swelling to his head. Police investigated the victim's apartment and found it ransacked with no signs of a broken entry. The victim could not identify exact items that were missing but estimated the stolen property to be worth $500.
