There is also a fabric store downtown on Grove Street, its upholstery fabric and also there is a spot on Pacific street next to Carteret Ave. The one on Grove is pretty small, but Pacific street is pretty major. Good Luck!

Walk around the Garment District/FIT you will run into a bunch of places. Of course, I would recommend you go to Mood. As Tim Gunn would say, "make it work". Luv that show. :)

Anyone know where the closest fabric store is that has a big selection? I've driven to Fabricland in No Plainfield but was wondering if there was a closer one?

I like the place across from the post office on Bergen Ave, it has some interesting stuff, you have to look around in there, its very narrow.
I also go to Fabric Warehouse in Rahway, but they have mostly remants 1-4 yards of various types, craft fabrics, drapery, velvet, challis. Some are on bolts, but the rest is stacked up on long tables like you would stack your linen closet. If you get on their mailing list, they will alert you of the various sales, 30, 40 & 50% off. There are 3 stores, Rahway, Belleville and somewhere in PA. They also have patterns. Their website: http://fabricwarehousedirect.com There is also a fabric store behind the dry cleaner on Montomery near Bergen Ave, but I have never been in it. Looks nice from the outside.

Theres a little spot on Bergen Ave by Journal Square across the street from the post office. Theres also the Indian neighborhood going down Newark Ave from Kennedy Blvd. There are some very pretty sari shops and fabrics for reasonable prices.
Then theres always the garment district in NYC 40th-37th streets between 8th ave & Broadway. Good luck

Anyone know where there is a good store for fabric and patterns? That fabric store on Grove closed years ago, and rag shop in Secaucus closed a while back, too. I have no idea where to go!!!!
