Weird. A saiga is basically a civillian version of an AK variant. No bayonet lug, obviously no full auto or selective fire. Technically it might squeak by NJ's "assault weapon" ban.
What's even more insane, of course, is the first part. It's exactly the size of an AK. Man, how loose do those pants have to be for you to think you have even a chance of hiding that thing down them?? GWB

Bergen Lafayette: Assault rifle seized in arrest
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 Jersey City police arrested a man they caught walking down Martin Luther King Drive early Tuesday morning with a loaded assault rifle hidden in his pant leg, reports said. At 3:35 a.m., police received a call from an Armstrong Avenue resident saying he found the man, later identified as Naeem McDaniels, on his porch holding a rifle, reports said. The resident said that while he was calling police McDaniels left, walking west toward Bergen Avenue, reports said. Police spotted a man matching McDaniels' description near King Drive and saw part of a rifle sticking out of the leg of his pants, reports said. McDaniels, 19, of Montgomery Street, was charged with possession of assault firearms, reports said. The rifle was a Saiga 223 Rem assault rifle and it had three bullets in the magazine, police said.
