Yeah, the site looks like crap but both Mia Scanga and Yvonne Balcer are among two of the most notable neighborhood reporters, activists of Jersey City. If you get past the crap look of the site there are regular interviews with the city's movers and shakers, councilpersons, et al and research on the stopbretschundler.com site alone is excellent on the city's infrastructure (or lack thereof).

Also, you don't really know what is going on in JC unless you know the prior history of problems involving the various depts of the city, the candidates for mayor, councilpersons, etc over the last 10 to 20 years and talkingpolitics comes to most if not all the meetings held by the city council, some of the planning board and other various hearings that impact our daily lives.

PoliticsNJ is a great site as well but broader in scope than just JC.

thank you r_pinkowtiz, i have not read through it yet but the site looks like it provides an ample amount of information.

as for http://www.talkingpolitics.net/, that site looks like it was created in the 90's. if anybody knows the webmaster they should definitely look into updating that site.

and if anybody was interested, for federal elections i always check on these sites:

http://factcheck.org/

Read the Jersey Journal. It's a crap paper, but it's the JC paper, and it has more of the local political scene in it.

There is no perfect site for this info...but you may want to try politicsnj.com since it's not a message board and there is some restraint (not spamming and trolling). Most of the Politicsnj.com reporters are part of the NJPA (New Jersey Press Association) and try to stay within some sort of guidelines with the information they put out..like most sites the information is whatever has hit media. I'm sure others will post some other links as well.

Yes, you are right about this..... there are currently several lawsuits taking place to try and clean up slander posted on these message boards so please take what you read with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately, I do not have a good source to provide you with.

I am looking for a place to read up on local politicians & issues affecting jersey city\hudson county.

Reading through a ton of forum posts is not really the most effective way, does anybody know of a site that is strictly about local politics?
