City Vino is unbelievably cheap for wine (and wine only). They have an extensive wine list and you can actually buy wine and drink it at home. The food on the other hand is overpriced with small portions. Don't get me wrong the food is tasty and i can understand why they do it (the wine is cheap so they kill you on the food) but to me if i'm going to spend that much on a meal, i want to leave feeling full!

Oddly enough I have never ordered wine at the Majestic *Wine* Bar! They have a good enough beer list so i stick to that, but sit outside because whoever said the music is too loud is spot on...

I liked Majestic a lot when it first opened but it seemed to undergo a slide. I just had a few bad experiences there in a row. And they play awful music inside, although the outside is nice. There's no harm in trying it once.

City Vino is great, and they have free tastings on Mon. & Thurs. in addition to their Tuesday tastings. Be sure to try the "Henry" cabernet!

City Vino is delish. I had a malbec there and some tapas and was impressed. Get the pulled pork sandwich.

I agree Chief...have always had a decent experience at Majestic...and they have outside seating if the weather ever gets nice!!

The majestic is just fine, don't let one person's opinion on an anonymous message board sway on you on trying the majestic out.

If you are new to the area I suggest trying each restaurant at least once and make you own decisions. I've been to the majestic and haven?t had any reason not to like it but don't take my word for it, I could be a crazy person. LOL

I have been to City Vino a few times and I really like it! They have wine tastings every Tuesday. I recently went to a champagne tasting there and it was excellent. If you go on their website and get on their email list they will send you the upcoming events. Definately worth trying.

Actually I think the one you're talking about is City Vino, which I haven't tried.

I just moved to JC and recently at the gym, I heard someone mention there is a new wine bar that opened up near the Goldman Sachs bldg? Near Paulus Hook? Anyone know if this is true or the name?

Or any other good wine bars in JC?
